Meet Recap: Vestal and Seton

Tuesday marked the final home meet of the season for Forks Track. The girls continued on their path of destruction improving to 7-1 with wins over Vestal and Seton. Gianna Lawrence won 4 events (LJ, TJ, 100H, 4x100) against both Vestal and Seton while Pipher Reid won 3 events (4x800, 800, 3K) against both schools. Olivia McPeek (400H) and Lauren White (PV) added wins against both schools as well.

Against Seton, Quinn Sirgany (1500), Angelina Schultz (400), Jess Hall(SP), Anna Hillis (Discus) all added individual event wins while Alyssa Denton added two individual wins (100, HJ). The 4x100 team of Aliana Gumble, Alyssa, Audra Ackerson, and Gianna defeated both schools as did the 4x400 team of Alaina, Alyssa, Audra, and Shaylee Meier as well as the 4x800 team of Gabe, Shaylee, Quinn, and Pipher.

The girls defeated Vestal by a score of 71-65. Quinn completing a late pass in the 3K to join Pipher going 1-2 in the event, combined with winning the 4x4 led to Forks outscoring Vestal 13-1 in the final two events of the day to give the girls the come from behind victory. The girls team outscored Seton 103-15.

The highlight of the day for individual performances came in the 100H and the 800. Gianna Lawrence improved her school record to 16.4 breaking her tie with Michelle Grady. Pipher Reid running her first open 800 in over 2 years broke the 13 year old school record of Michelle Staiger by running 2:18.7.

On the boys side, Connor Little won the 800 against both schools while also scoring second in the 1600 against Seton. Ethan Howell won Shot and Discus against both schools while winning shot against Seton and finishing second against Vestal. Dubbs Haqq won Long Jump and Triple Jump against Seton and finished 2nd in both against Vestal.

In the sprints, the boys outscored Seton 21-2 with Lucas McPeak and Josh Nickerson going 1-2 in the 100 while Carmine Gross and Anthony Schultz went 1-2 in the 200. The boys 4x100 team of Josh, Dubbs, Anthony, and Carmine were also victorious. The boys lost to Vestal but defeated Seton 66-20.

Tuesday, June 1st, will be the final dual meet of the year hosted at Chenango Valley at 4PM. We will recognize our seniors at the beginning of the meet. With a win, the girls will go undefeated in the division for the first time since 2006.
