Indoor Track 2023
The 2023 Indoor Season finished with 17 different Top Ten Lists being made and one School record being broken!! Along with this, ten athletes participated in the State Qualifier Meet at Cornell University February 25. This is the most CF athletes since 2011 to make the State Qualifier!
Our sprinters were dominant this season, led by junior Kara Condon. Kara became the first Forks female athlete to break 8.00 seconds in the 55 Meter Dash, eventually crushing this barrier and running 7.79! That was the 8th fastest time in the entire Section.
Sophomores Riley Spalik (8.27), now ranks fifth All Time in School History and Alyssa Denton (8.43), now eighth, also broke onto our Top List in the 55 Meter Dash. For the boys, senior Lucas McPeak (7.02) is now ranked fourth All Time, while sophomore Ethan Austin (7.22), coming off of a major leg injury, is now ranked fifth.
Riley Spalik proved she was not just fast in a short race, as she ran the third fastest 300 Meter Dash in School History (46.86). Lucas McPeak also proved he could sprint a longer race by running our tenth fastest 300 Meter time (40.91).
As for our distance runners, senior Quinn Sirgany ended her Indoor running career as our sixth fastest 600 Meter Runner (1:57.12) and our third fastest 1000 Meter runner (3:23.49) in Forks History. Quinn also ran a 200 leg in our second fastest 4 by 200 Meter Relay Team, along with Kara, Riley, and Alyssa.
Freshman Deleny Wood (5:57.42) and sophomore Kendel Little (2:02.06) finished as our 10th fastest runners in School History in the 1500 and 600 respectively. They, along with Quinn and Kayleigh Lockwood, finished 8th in the Section in the 4 by 800 Meter Relay at State Quals.
Conway Mallory and Liam Wood seemingly set new PRs each week in the long races, with Liam managing to make the Top Ten lists in both the 1600 (5:17.52) and the 3200 (11:16.82), which he is actually now fifth.
Freshman Anna Ginalski had an outstanding first season on Varsity competing in her first indoor races and managed to place 14th in the Class Meet in the 600 (2:06.02). While senior Olivia McPeak accomplished her goal in the 55 Meter Hurdles by making the State Qualifier Meet. Although Liv was injured, she ran the ninth fastest time in our history (11.75).
