The Doug Quinney Invite

Twenty-eight teams attended the Doug Quinney Invitational in Sidney New York on Saturday, April 22.  Despite the insane winds, our Boys finished tenth overall and our Girls placed fifth.

The boys were led by our three Relay Teams each making the podium, the first time that has happened in a regular season Invite during Coach Motell’s eighteen-year tenure as head coach.  Our 4 by 1 Team (Lincoln Raab, Max Harkness, Lucas McPeak, and Ethan Austin) finished sixth, our 4 by 4 Team (Connor Little, Zephan Tompkins, Nate Raab, and Ethan Vaseleck) finished fifth, and our 4 by 8 Team (Thomas Hillis, Kellen Mulesky, Liam Wood, and Zephan Tompkins) placed third.

Other podiums reached were by Connor Little who broke the elusive five minutes in the 1600 Meter Run for the first time on his way to finishing fifth, Lucas McPerak and Ethan Austin who each finished fourth in the 200 and 100 Meter Dash respectively, and Ethan Vaseleck who PR’ed in the Triple Jump on his way to placing third.

For the second straight Invite, our girls 3200 Meter Relay Team (this time consisting of Mari Pourby, Grace Harkness, Kathryn White, and Quinn Sirgany) earned first place ribbons.  As for individuals, senior Quinn Sirgany finished second overall in the 3000 Meter Run, senior Kathryn White finished second in the Pole Vault, and sophomore Lauren Paske finished second in the Discus.  Her throw in the Discus now moves Lauren up to 14th Place All Time in Chenango Forks History in the event.

Junior Kara Condon made Finals in the 100 Meter Dash and finished third overall, while freshman Mari Pourby finished fifth in the High Jump, and Lauren Paske placed fourth in the Shot Put.

It really was another excellent weekend for Forks Track with another huge shout out to the Booster Club for providing drinks and snacks for our athletes!
